WAN LOK YIU KELLY
“Craving the World and You Before the Pandemic” is presented in the unique technique of Gongbi, the elements of Western perspective painting, and the form of comics. The work consists of ten pieces of ink and color on paper, with a total number of nineteen grids which means the year of the 2019 coronavirus disease.The work has no dialogue, it is told solely through pictures about the nervousness and anxiety spreading through the society due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the comic, the spread of COVID-19 pandemic was like a hacker who hacked into our reality and treated our lives as a game. COVID-19 arrogantly declared war to the whole world. The girl tried to hide from it, but she found that it was everywhere.
Wan Lok Yiu Kelly, (b. 2000) obtained a Bachelor’s degree majoring in Fine Arts from CUHK.
