Belonging to the community of people who fled the Vietnamese Communist regime, taking to the sea and struggling to identify with a new social community as a refugee, Tuan Andrew Nguyen's experiences abroad affords him a particular kind of objectivity in which to critically engage cultural or social anomaly.
Tuan Andrew Nguyen is a co-founder and currently board member of Sàn Art, an artist-initiated exhibition space and educational program in Sai Gon, Vietnam. His work explores the body as sites and and as moments of resistance in public space and the impact of mass media on these moments of resistance.
