CAROL LEE MEI KUEN
b. 1963, Hong Kong. Lives and works in Hong Kong.

One of the most prominent contemporary artists in Hong Kong, Lee explores the topics of time, memories and human relationships. As a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society and a founding member of the MIA (Mere Independent Artist), Lee is an artist that can evoke strong visual sensations in her viewers through her play with shape, juxtaposition, color, rhythm and intensity. Through a technique called time painting, Lee creates pieces that are elegant, thought provoking and truly reflective of the passing of time.

10 Chancery Lane Gallery is pleased to present Remembering Days, Forgetting Time, by prominent Hong Kong artist Carol Lee Mei-kuen. Lee will include works from her recent exhibition at the Xi’an OCAT Museum curated by Karen Smith. The exhibition will also open with the launch of the book Light Years in Letters: A Postcard Project. The book is a selection of postcards created by Lee in the past five years as part of her postcard project, which began in 2008.

10 Chancery Lane Gallery Art Projects Presents Hong Kong Artist Carol Lee Mei Kuen in Threads of Luminosity. Lee will present works in 3,000 square feet of exhibition space that will include installation, video and works on paper. Her series of time works venture to capture time through sunlight. Her thoughtful and delicate works allow us to record time as a physical object and at the same moment to reflect on the meaning of time itself.

8 December 2011, Hong Kong — FORCES explores the works of five artists and how they interact. Playing on the idea of the Chinese five elements and the effects they have upon each other as a constant action and reaction. The system of five elements was used for describing interactions and relationships between phenomena. The artists in their processes all work in a way incorporating the forces of nature into their dynamic and use varying elements of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water creating a dialogue between them.
