"Whimsical Field I & II" begins with Lewis Lee's travels. Both works use textiles from traditional Balinese clothing purchased during his travels as canvases, blending Southern Hemisphere landscapes with imagination to subtly depict the customs and culture of the equatorial region.

"Whimsical Field I" unfolds amidst the volcanic jungles of Bali. During Lee’s stay, the island was celebrating Galungan, with 5-meter-high penjor lining the rice paddies, interwoven with bamboo, coconut, corn, and other crops, welcoming departed ancestors home. The island's indigenous people's more open and inclusive attitude towards life and death instilled in the artist a deeper reverence for nature.
