During the SARs epidemic in 2003, Marques de Jadraque painted a series of works entitled “My Beautiful Hong Kong.” Capturing the essence of Hong Kong’s landscapes through his expressive brushstrokes. He painted sampans and bays, buildings and the energetic Victoria harbor. Born in Spain, he came to Hong Kong over several years captivated by the cities energy and culture.
Marqués de Jadraque, the pseudonym of Miguel Garcia, was born in Palencia, Spain, where he received his early artistic education, since the age of ten, at the School of Applied Arts and Vocations. He then continued his studies in Barcelona. He now lives and works in Spain, London and New York.
