10 Chancery Lane Gallery is pleased to present HEATWAVE, a curated group exhibition celebrating the restorative energy of summer while reflecting on the pressing realities of our changing climate.
Bringing together an exceptional lineup, the exhibition captures summer in full bloom—a vibrant season of fun, rejuvenation, and intense vitality. Through lush textures and radiant hues, Heatwave invites viewers to look beyond their digital screens and reconnect with the natural world, serving as a powerful reminder of humanity's symbiotic relationship with Mother Nature.
The exhibition showcases a dynamic selection of works across multiple media, including photography, sculptures, paintings, silkscreen prints, and textile compositions. Visitors will experience a striking dialogue between the brightness of the season and the realities of climate extremities. Gu Benchi’s intricate geometric grids in polyester yarn use tonal gradations that are reminiscent of pulsating energy of the season. The interplay between Gu Benchi’s textile works and John Young’s paintings capture the spectral elegance of heat, simultaneously captivating the audience while issuing a subtle warning of cataclysmic environmental consequences.
Best known for his collaboration with Andy Warhol, Louis Waldon’s silkscreen prints offer a rich spectrum of colors in pop renderings. Each print is authenticated by the Factory stamp and signed by the artist. In contrast, Pan Jian’s soothing compositions, inspired by literature and poetry, offer a visual solace from the heat. Meanwhile, the landscapes of Lewis Lee and Matthew Johnson provide a rich treat for the sauntering gaze, encouraging deep mindfulness and reflection. The full roster of featured artists includes:
