10 Chancery Lane Gallery is honoured to the debut solo exhibition in Hong Kong of Mongolian artist ANUnaran J. Solo Exhibition “Inner Nature – Return to Innocence” in Hong Kong from 15 November 2024 to 11 January 2025.

ANUnaran Jargalsaikhan, is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist. Living and working in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Her diverse practice and use of materials and performance are deeply connected to nature. In this exhibition at 10 Chancery Lane Gallery we will see the diversity of her practice which includes a unique mix of techniques that are embroidered, sewed, appliquéd and as well as, photo-based work combining various materials such as fabric, pens, thread, acrylic, oil and printing.
In a poignant reflection on the intricate relationship between humanity and nature, ANUnaran J. delves deep into the essence of our inner nature. She shares, "We feel things both externally and internally. Our relationship with nature resides within us, as does Mother Nature herself." Her introspective musings underscore the crucial yet fading connections we share with the natural world.

Through her thought-provoking artworks, ANUnaran J. challenges conventional perceptions, urging viewers to rekindle their bond with Mother Nature. She questions, "Could we also be repressing the part of nature that lives within ourselves?" This profound inquiry forms the thematic core of her exhibition—an exploration of harmony, purity, and interconnectedness.

The exhibition will feature a series of mixed media works inspired by nature and real and historical photographs. ANUnaran J. employs deliberate simplicity, using some colors like black, white, blue, and green to evoke a sense of raw authenticity. Visitors can expect to immerse themselves in a diverse showcase comprising screen printing, historical photography, a performance, and a captivating felt installation.

ANUnaran J. has garnered international acclaim for her intricate and thought-provoking artworks that explore the hidden nuances of universal dualisms. Drawing inspiration from ancient Mongolian concepts, her artworks explore the realms of femininity and masculinity, the subconscious and conscious mind, and the metaphysical and physical world.

Gallery director, Katie de Tilly, states, “ANUnaran J. is among the most captivating artists of her generation in Mongolia, making her mark on the global stage. Her work is a reflection of her very essence, and whether expressed through performances, paintings, or installations, it evokes a profound connection to the dynamic forces rooted in her country's rich history and spirituality.”

ABOUT 10 CHANCERY LANE GALLERY
Established in 2001, when Hong Kong’s art scene was burgeoning, Katie de Tilly started 10 Chancery Lane Gallery. Along the back wall of the, then running, Victoria Prison, now the buzzing Tai Kwun Heritage and Cultural site, the little walking lane opened into a gallery specializing in contemporary art from the Asia-Pacific. Over the past 23 years, 10 Chancery Lane has worked with some of the region’s great artists, curators, and museums. The gallery’s motto still stands: “We are committed to giving a breath of fresh air to the Hong Kong art scene by bringing works that can expand horizons, open minds, and view the world, and life in general, through varying eyes, ideas, and souls. Art is not just decoration for our walls but a connection with our deep inner selves and the world around us.”
