Cambodian artist Chan Dany is known for reinterpreting ancient Khmer cultural forms and practices that retain aesthetic and moral ground in today's Cambodia. Whether appropriating traditional ornamental codes or mythological characters, Chan employs knowledge of codified forms and techniques ranging from painting to sewing and collage with novel materials. His arduous and often delicate practice requires a repetition and patience reminiscent of traditional master-artisan methods of production, yet Chan embraces change as a form of preservation.
