Fine photographs of China and the Far East
A limited edition series of 40 hand-finished silver gelatine prints printed using the original glass-plate negatives.
This is the first time that Thomson’s photographs of the Far East have been reprinted as a limited edition series, available for sale. Thomson’s negatives survive largely intact at the Wellcome Trust Libraby and in all cases these negatives have been used to create new printing negatives, which will become the property of the Wellcome Trust and so help to preserve Thomson’s work for years to come.
The edition consists of 40 of the most striking images taken by Thomson of China and the Far East. Each image is limited to 350 copies. All prints are silver gelatine prints, printed on 16 x 20 in. Kodak Ektalure thick fibre-based paper and have been hand-printed and hand-finished. Image size varies, most being approximately 12 x 16 inches, some a little smaller.
