Zhang Peng
Artist's Statement
This series of photographic works deal with the fragility of a child.  He personally felt that post-cultural revolutionary China went through a difficult transition period and that growing up during the eighties was a hard time for many families across China.  The works deal with his personal feelings of helplessness during his youth.  His use of a small girl, often bruised or bleeding, emphasizes the vulnerability of a child against a harsh world.
